The Cinema's seven minute film explains the layout of Firepower, and looks at how the Royal Artillery and its museum came to be in Woolwich.

It charts how artillery, other war equipment and battle tactics are all tied together, with breakthroughs in one leading to new developments in the others.

Until the late 19th Century, armies lined up their artillery in full view of the enemy, an approach called 'direct fire' and becoming increasingly dangerous as the infantry acquired modern rifles. By the time of the Great War (1914-18) tactics had changed with the introduction of more powerful and accurate artillery. capable of firing from concealed positions out of sight of the enemy. 'Indirect fire' became the latest approach, and still in use today.
